Rune Carlsson's music glows with his love of bebop, standards, ballads and
intense moments.
As a drummer the blend of intense enthusiasm and reserve in his playing has made him a much-sought- after and popular player.
For several decades he accompanied the great jazz legends who touched down in Sweden every now and again,- players like Dizzy Gillespie and Dexter Gordon.
As early as the 50s he began touring. He experienced great moments with Stan Getz, Wayne Shorter, Lars Gullin and Chet Baker.
In 1966 He played with bassist Palle Danielsson and pianist Bill Evans, a trio which has also been preserved on record.
At a time when male jazzsingers are few and far between, Rune Carlsson has managed to make a new career for himself.
In fact it's almost true to say that the voice is now his main instrument. With the same rythmic intensity as before he brings out the meaning of many well-known tunes, as well as other long forgotten ones.
As a singer he appears with his own quartet and also with his orchestra, the Rune Carlsson Big Band.
